These fractures are particularly common in older adults with decreased bone density.

Causes of Proximal Humerus Fractures

  • Falls onto an outstretched arm

Early supervised movement helps prevent stiffness and frozen shoulder.

Surgical Treatment

  • Intramedullary nailing
  • Shoulder replacement surgery for severe fractures
  • Reverse shoulder replacement when rotator cuff damage is present
