Dr. Dear is a native Texan, whose early life and extensive education span
the state. He and his family recently returned from California where he
completed his fellowship in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Dear, was born in Amarillo, TX and grew up in the small panhandle town
of Perryton. There, he was successful in high school sports and was named
Valedictorian of his graduating class. He then went on to Texas A&M
University where he graduated summa cum laude en route to earning a B.B.A.
in marketing while also fulfilling prerequisites for medical school. It
was at Texas A&M where he became interested in sports medicine while
serving as a marketing intern with the Texas A&M Athletic Department.
Dr. Dear then earned his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical Center
in Dallas and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at UT Health Science Center
in San Antonio and was honored to be given the Outstanding Resident Mentor
award by his peers. Dr. Dear then received his fellowship training in
sports medicine with a focus on advanced shoulder and knee arthroscopy
at Kaiser Permanente in Orange County, California. It was there that he
served as team physician for Santa Ana College and Tustin High School
and participated in the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim's spring training.
While Dr. Dear enjoys the challenge of treating athletes of all competitive
levels, he also has an active interest in adult and pediatric orthopedic
trauma, joint replacement, and general orthopedic disease. He and his
wife, Erin, have two sons; in his free time, Dr. Dear enjoys golfing,
swimming, traveling, spending time with is family and watching college football.
